Standing Proud Org and United Studios present the inaugural Kids Health and Fitness Expo on Saturday, October 3rd, 2009 at the Henry’s Shopping center at the corner of Governor and Regents Rd in San Diego from 10:00am -5:00pm.
This event raises awareness and brings attention to introducing children to healthy lifestyles, proper nutrition and physical activity.
Through the assistance and donation of many business owners, this event will introduce the public to the goals of Standing Proud Org and United Studios. We are planning on having many events similar to this across the country. Our cause and goal is to educate as many children, young adults and even parents on the benefits of altering eating patterns, becoming more active households and eliminating sedentary lifestyles. The Expo’s will introducing lower calorie foods as alternates to the fat filled fast foods we over consume, they will have fun and fast filled activities for kids and many wellness booths providing education and awareness on many health related issues.
Obesity has gripped our nation, the problem needs to be addressed and something must be done NOW! Obesity in the USA is nearing 20% of its total population and the problem only gets worse from there! Diabetes, heart disease, stroke and joint and back problems are directly related to this epidemic. In fact, obesity is now the leading cause of death in the USA, out pacing cigarette smoking and cancer. It also costs the USA upwards of 150 Billion dollars annually to treat the obese whom are often unable to afford health insurance.
